Sometimes, dining out can be somewhat of a challenge for me. I lean towards vegetarian or vegan, but absolutely minimal oil and salt. I’ve been eating whole-foods, plant-based for so long, with excellent results, that when I consume the traditional SAD (Standard American Diet), it makes me feel sad and overall lousy. With my dietary guidelines in mind, choosing a restaurant that can accommodate my nutrient-rich diet requires some planning, but it is very doable and should not prevent anyone from enjoying their dining experience. (I’ve written about this in Dining Out Nutritarian).
One of my favorite restaurants (okay, it is more fast food than a relaxing restaurant) is Jules Pizza (3 locations, Newtown, Doylestown and Jenkintown, PA). Their motto is, “Eat food from plants, not food made in plants”. I realize this particular restaurant is far from local for some readers, but hopefully you can find something similar in your area.
Julies has thin crust pizza (and I mean thin, I call it Matza Pizza). You have the choice of white four, whole wheat and gluten free crust. Regular cheese or vegan cheese. Toppings galore. Can you guess what I ordered??? Whole wheat, vegan cheese with mushrooms (whole wheat to retain the fiber, vegan cheese to reduce saturated fat from animal products and mushrooms for nutrients and anti-cancer properties, Plus it tastes great).

Looks Yummy!!!!
They also have fabulous organic salads. Hubby and I get the mixed greens with edamame and red peppers. My girls share the fruitier salad that is micro greens, apples, craisins and pecans. All very fresh, served with balsamic vinaigrette (probably too much oil than I would use at home, but seriously, you have to pick and choose your battles, so I make an allowance here).

This salad is a great side to the pizza!
I leave Jules, so happy, so fulfilled and so satisfied.
It’s a Keeper!!
Please keep me posted if you frequent any restaurants like Jules in your area so I can add them to my Talk Healthy approved list.
